And now, the rest of the story. In my last post, I cut it short due to being in the middle of a move. So, without further ado, here are the rest of the bottles, plus a few extra.
I started off with Tommyknocker's Maple Nut Brown. Smelled good when I opened the bottle, but I couldn't get more than a third through it. Between this and Red Hook's nut brown, I think I've come to the conclusion that I simply do not like "Nut Brown" beers. I have yet to find one that I can enjoy, so they are off the list. I haven't ruled this brewery out, just this particular beer.
Next up was my first oriental beer, Tsingtao. This one wasn't too bad. It was a little bitter, but crisp with good flavor. Very mild hops. Nothing overly special about it, but it was enjoyable.
The last two bottles were house-warming gifts from my brother-in-law. Both were from Free State Beer in Lawrence, KS. Another local beer (yeah!). First one I opened was the Ad Astra Ale. It wasn't too bad, but the sweetness from the caramel seemed a bit much for my tastes. Still, it was a good, darker beer with mild hints of chocolate. Not bad.
The final bottle was Copperhead Pale Ale. This was excellent. Refreshing with a nice hop bite that lead to a great finish. This is one I wouldn't mind having again.
And that polishes off another custom 6-pack. I have a few more big bottles to write about, plus the ones I got for my Birthday, but those will come next time. Then I'll finally be caught up and ready to start again with another 6-pack.
Since mid 2011, I have fallen in love with the Craft Beer scene and have been trying a lot of new, and different beers. I realized the need to keep a log or journal of what I have tried so that I could refer back to it and then I thought why not create a Blog to do the same. This Blog is my journal of different beers and my honest opinions of them. Join me as I take a Journey through the Craft Beer scene.
